Friday Footnote # 64
Each week we share loads of content amongst Team ION and with our network. Content that inspires us, which we find helpful, or just makes us smile. We thought we would start sharing these insights every Friday. Welcome to Friday Footnote.
#alwayslearning - How to protect yourself on social media
At this week's #IONOpenDoors we were joined by Marc Davies from GDS Analytics who discussed how to minimize your digital footprint, and how to protect yourself on social media. During the hugely interactive session, there were some fantastic takeaways on how to handle online abuse and how we should educate our children to protect themselves online. Based on the number of notes everyone was making, we think everyone ended the session with a big to-do list. We even identified some topics for future sessions so keep your eyes peeled.
This weeks session was part of our #IONOpenDoors series of virtual events, started during the Covid-19 pandemic. Going forward the sessions will run every fortnight, still on a Thursday at 11 am, and we will be alternating the sessions between general networking sessions (as the sessions have usually ran) and learning events, with members of the ION team, and external partners, leading sessions discussing topics relevant to Welsh business. Keep an eye on our social media feeds over the coming weeks for details of our next session.
Women In Business Awards
We were super proud to find out on Wednesday this week that our very own Kaye Harris-John has been shortlisted for a Wales Women in Business Award. Kaye, our Business Development lead has been nominated in the 'Employment Engagement Champion' category. Everyone in Team ION is delighted with the nomination, she is already a winner to us, and we'll be cheering her on when the winners are announced at the end of September.
It was great to see so many friends of ION also nominated. Congratulations to ION alumni Ali Sparkes (The Health Dispensary), current delegate Danni Watts-Jones (DWJ Wealth Management) and friend of the programme, Rebecca Edwards - Symmons (Swansea City).
You can find out more about all of the nominees on the Business Live website.
Farewell to Vichy
We are gutted that today will be Vichy Bevan-Jones' last day in Team ION. Vichy (pictured right) joined us 6 months ago as a member of our delivery team and made a huge impact straight away, with both our delegates and the ION team. Vichy brought a new dynamic to the team and challenged the way we do things. And for that, we will be forever grateful.
Everyone in the team would like to wish Vichy the best of luck on her next adventure. Don't be a stranger Vichy!

Become an extraordinary leader
We were delighted to announce recently that, thanks to the European Social Fund, we are able to extend the period whereby our leadership programmes are fully funded. Programmes that start before the end of March 2022 will be fully funded. You can find out more about our latest programmes on our courses page.
