Friday Footnote # 131

Ysgrifennwyd gan A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / 26/5/2023

Each week we share loads of content amongst Team ION and with our network. Content that inspires us, which we find helpful, or just makes us smile. We thought we would start sharing these insights every Friday. Welcome to Friday Footnote.#

Looking Back, Looking ForwardEvent_header.PNG

In the last 12 years, we have supported over 1700 individuals in the Welsh business community to become extraordinary leaders. On Tuesday 27th June our Swansea team are hosting the Looking Back, Looking Forward event at the Swansea University Great Hall on the Bay Campus.

The invitations to all of our alumni, LEAD Wales and ION leadership, and our friends and industry partners, went out last week.

Havent' seen your invitation yet? It might be worth checking your 'Other' folder or 'Junk Email' folder, just in case the invitation has accidentally gone in there. If you haven't received an invitation yet, and are interested in attending, please contact Adam on ionleadership@swansea.ac.uk.

We will be announcing our exciting agenda soon, including alumni speakers, and more about how Swansea University can support businesses across Wales.

There will be many opportunities throughout the day to network with our alumni, former team members and industry and university partners. So if you are a LEAD Wales / ION leadership alumini - why not get your back together?

Our international athletics superstar stars once again

Congratulations to Clare, our Finance Manager, who last weekend competed for Wales (once again) in the 2023 Chester Half-Marathon.

Clare finished in an amazing time of 1hr 30mins 59 secs, finishing 8th in her FV50 category and 277th out of 4,041 in the whole race. Well done Clare - we are all massively proud of you!

Talking behavioural styles with Tokio Marine2_(2).jpg

This Tuesday we were at the Swansea University School of Management with our latest set of team leaders from Tokio Marine. This weeks session was all about DISC - a personal assessment tool used to help improve teamwork, communication, and productivity in the workplace. All of the delegates received their own personalised DISC reports, gained an understanding of behavioural styles, identiftied their own style and it's impact on others, and learned more about how to be more effective in the workpalce by understanding each others styles. Roll on the next session where we will be discussing Planning & Implementing Change.

If you are interested in finding out more about how we can work with you and your business to develop the people within your team or organisation, get in touch with Adam Fairbank on ionleadership@swansea.ac.uk

North Wales means Business

There is just under a week until our Bangor team host the North Wales means Business Conference & Trade Show, on Thursday 1st June.

The event will provide a great opportunity to develop your learning, with a great line-up of inspirational speakers and breakout sessions. There are a number of breakout sessions scheduled throughout the day including; harnessing employee engagement, the secrets of becoming a high performer, and creating a culture of continual improvement.

You can still book tickets on the Bangor University website

Yesterday, Adam joined many others from across South Wales at Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli for the 4theregion AGM. We have been ambassadors of 4theregion for many years now, and share their vision for wanting the region to flourish.

There was so much positivity in the room, a room full of change makers all striving to make South West Wales a brilliant place to work and live. It was brilliant to catch up with so many amazing people - reminding us once again how lucky we are to live and work where we do. We are hugely proud to be involved in this network.
