Friday Footnote # 128

Ysgrifennwyd gan A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / 5/5/2023

Each week we share loads of content amongst Team ION and with our network. Content that inspires us, which we find helpful, or just makes us smile. We thought we would start sharing these insights every Friday. Welcome to Friday Footnote.

Celebration time with our latest graduates

On Wednesday we had a fabulous day with our latest set of graduates from our ILM Level 5 Leading Growth programme.

18 delegates from companies including Hiut DenimInSite Technical ServicesRamblers CymruKearns Solicitors and Dezrez (amongst many others!), plus their guests, joined us at the Llanerch Vineyard for for a day of fun, learning and laughter.

LG32.jpgThe morning session was all about reflection - reflecting on their time as a group, what they have learned about themselves and each other, and what they have done differently in their business.

The afternoon was all about celebration. Guests of the delegates, and guests from Swansea University and the ION team, joined everyone for a lovely lunch, and the graduation ceremony. It is always amazing to hear the delegates talk so openly about the impact our programme has on them both perosnally and professionally. There were tears and plenty of laugther, and once again, the group have clearly developed a strong bond which will continute long past graduation.

The whole day, and programme, was summed up perfectly by one of the delegates during the ceremony - 'I'm looking forward to my future. The future is bright, the future is ION'. We couldn't of said it better ourselves.

Next week is a busy one

We cannot wait for next week, it's going to be a seriously busy one.

After another Bank Holiday Monday, we are straight into it on Tuesday when Jane and Adam are running a 'Networking wth Confidence' session as part of the Swansea University Postgraduate Research Festival. The festival is an 'opportunity for the PGR community across the university to come together with events that showcase the fantastic work that PGRs are undertaking, bring researchers from different disciplines together, and create a space to recognise and celebrate the postgraduate research community'. Our session is an interactive session, discussing the importance of networking, and how being a confident and successful networker can create future opportunities for both you and your research. We cannot wait for the session.

And then on Wednesday we have our next leadership masterclass with 9 new team leaders from Tokio Marine HCC, as part of their bespoke leadership programme. During this session the delegates will learn more about different leadership styles, identify their own style and understand its impact on others, and understand emotional intelligence and how it influences your leadership.

And then on Thursday we have another graduation ceremony as our latest set of New Leaders graduate at The Lighthouse in Swansea.

Keep an eye on our social media channels next week for the latest updates. Plus next weeks Friday Footnote is certainly going to be a bumper edition!
