Friday Footnote # 125

Ysgrifennwyd gan A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / 31/3/2023

Each week we share loads of content amongst Team ION and with our network. Content that inspires us, which we find helpful, or just makes us smile. We thought we would start sharing these insights every Friday. Welcome to Friday Footnote.

4theregion Swansea City Conference 20234_region_event.jpg

We had a fantastic day on Wednesday at the 4theregion Swansea City Centre Conference at the Swansea Arena

The day started with a hugely exciting session on the regeneration of the city, with presentations from Cllr Rob Stewart from Swasea Council, Urban Splash, KartayCoastal Housing and Swansea University. There are some fantastic developments happenning across the city, and what was brilliant to see was the collaboration between everyone involved - key stakeholders working together towards a shared vision for the city.

It was then time for the exhibition itself. We had some brilliant conversations, with some brilliant people, caught up with 'old' friends and met plenty of new ones - we even met some turtles and alpacas!

It was fantastic to be working alongside our Swansea University colleagues, showcasing how the university can support the future prosperity of our city, region and it's people.

It was a great, but very tiring, day fuelled by coffee, sweets and Greek Lasgane.

A huge thank you to Zoe AntrobusDawn Lyle and everyone in the 4theRegion team for organising another brilliant, and hugely important, event.

Da iawn SibilSibil1.jpg

As most people know, we are massive advocates of #alwayslearning here at ION. This week our Project Assistant Sibil was nominated for a Bright Learner Award by the Swansea University Academi Hywel Teifi project, a project which aims to 'support students of all ages and educational, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds to learn Welsh or develop their skills in the language'.

As part of the Learn Welsh - Swansea Bay Region programme, Sibil has been learning Welsh for the last year. Originally from Slovenia, Sibil moved to Swansea from Luxembourg in September 2020 and can also speak Slovenian, English, Croatian, Latin, German, French, (a bit of) Japanese and Hungarian, and is also learning Italian as well as Welsh.

Da iawn, Sibil, i gyd yn falch iawn ohonoch chi.
