Friday Footnote #11

Ysgrifennwyd gan A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / 3/7/2020

Each week we share loads of content amongst Team ION and with our network. Content which inspires us, which we either find really helpful or we think would help our networks, or things that just make us smile. We thought we would start sharing these insights every Friday. Welcome to Friday footnote!

Kaye_networking.JPGNetworking - Online vs face-to-face

A few years ago, ION's very own networking guru Kaye Harris-John blogged about the 'rules of networking'. 2 years on, and during the Covid-19 pandemic which has turned business on its head, Kaye re-visited her original blog to see whether the principles of networking in person have fully transferred online or have we learnt a new way to communicate and connect with people? Check out Kaye's thoughts in this week's blog.

Kaye hosts our weekly ION Open Doors virtual networking session, every Thursday morning at 11am. Why not come and join the conversation?

Inspiration

Here are just a few things that have piqued our interest this week:

Always Learning

Book_Room_.pngIt has been another fantastic week of virtual learning delivered by the ION team. Tuesday saw us host the first public ION #ZoomBookRoom where participants discussed Do Lead by Les Mckeown. Participants discussed their key takeaways from the book and what it means for them and their teams. Feedback on the session was fantastic. We were therefore delighted to be able to confirm that the next #ZoomBookRoom will take place in a few weeks where we will be discussing The Power of Collaboration by Thea Singer Spitzer. Book to join the conversation.

Wednesday saw session 1 of our 2 -part 'Coach Don't Tell session. More can be read below about this session, including session lead Jill Davies's thoughts on the sessions so far.

Next week sees us also deliver our How do we learn? session, where participants will discuss different learning styles and discuss how an understanding of these learning styles will help you manage your own, and your team, CPD.

Coach Don't Tell

Wednesday saw session 1 of our 2-part 'Coach Don't Tell session, a highly interactive session whereby participants not only discussed the importance of coaching as opposed to telling, but also had the opportunity to practice their coaching skills on each other. This is the 2nd time we have run this session as the feedback from the first session was so positive. Session lead Jill Davies recently blogged about the sessions, sharing some insights that she has taken from her conversations with delegates.

Stay Safe
