Friday Footnote #39

Written by A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / Friday 12th February 2021

Each week we share loads of content amongst Team ION and with our network. Content which inspires us, which we find helpful or that just makes us smile. We thought we would start sharing these insights every Friday. Welcome to Friday footnote!

Sibil.jpgDream Team

Last week we welcomed Sibil to our Swansea team as a Project Assistant.

'I'm excited to join the ION team as a Project Assistant. It is a great opportunity for me to bring to the team the skills and experience I gained during the last 3 years working in the Legal department at Amazon in Luxembourg.

I was inspired to join the team after finding out how successful it is in achieving its vision of transforming business owners and managers into extraordinary leaders that will change the face of Wales.

I enjoy spending my free time in nature, so I'm more than happy to have found a career opportunity in Swansea, as the city and its surroundings are a perfect place for nature lovers'.

Welcome to the dream team Sibil.

Keep an eye out on our website and social media channels over the coming weeks for news of more new recruits.

Inspiration

Here are just a few things that have caught our eye this week:

Swansea BID

Swansea_BID_event.jpgIn this weeks #IONOpenDoors we were joined by Andrew Douglas (know to everyone as Duggie) from Swansea BID who gave an update on the work of the BID, and also chatted through the exciting developments taking place in the city in the coming years. Projects including the digital arena, Biophilic Building and the Kingsway were all discussed as well as developments on the High Street. It is safe to say that in 5 years time Swansea will be a very different City. Thanks for the update Duggie.

Business is like a Ferris Wheel

Join our Bangor team and Rhian Parry of Workplace-Worksafe next Tuesday at 11 am for their 'Business is like a Ferris Wheel' event. Rhian was voted one of the most inspirational female entrepreneurs in 2021. Rhian will chat about the highs and lows of business,  and how being bold and brave has helped her and her Ruthin based business flourish during the Covid-19 pandemic. Email ionleadership@bangor.ac.uk to book your place.

Become an extraordinary leader

Our leadership programmes are currently fully-funded until the end of August 2021. We were delighted to recently announce our next ILM Level 5 Leading Growth programme which will be starting in July 2021. Find out more on our courses page.

Our upcoming New Leaders programme in Bangor has just a few spaces left so get in touch with Felicity (Fliss) in our Bangor team on ionleadership@bangor.ac.uk to find out more.
