Alumni Case Study: Hannah Booth from Magnolia Centre for Health & Wellbeing

Written by A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / Tuesday 25th July 2023

In our latest alumni case study, we caught up with ION alumni Hannah Booth, from Magnolia Centre for Health & Wellbeing, to talk about her recent ION experience. It was fantastic to see Hannah join us at our recent 'Looking Back, Looking Forward' event. We even caught a cheeky photo of her (right) taking part in one of our activities.

Tell us a bit about your business, and your role within in it Hannah_Booth.jpg

Magnolia is a Centre for Health and Wellbeing, based in Neath. We provide a beautiful space for independent wellness therapists to work from, as well as the perfect environment to help individuals figure out what works best for their wellbeing.

I am responsible for the overall management of the centre which includes a breadth of responsibilities including marketing, sales, operations and finance.

Why did you want to take part in ION leadership programme?

I wanted to take part in the ION leadership programme to further develop my leadership skills. My previous experience had been within a totally different role, so I saw it as a great opportunity to solidify my leadership style and ensure I was being the best leader I could be for my business.

What impact did the programme have on you both personally and professionally?

The programme had a great impact, both personally and professionally. I felt a lot more confident in my ability as a leader, and it gave me new things to think about and try as each session went by. There was also an amazing community of other leaders I made strong relationships with, which was great for sharing experience and support.

What were your key takeaways from the programme, and is there anything you have done differently in your business since completing the programme?

Key takeaways for me included that self reflection is essential, and that I am able to flex my style to suit each situation, and am more confident in doing so.

Would you recommend the ION leadership to other business owners? And if so, why?

Would definitely recommend, the sessions are thought provoking, you meet some great people and the activities and way of learning is totally different to anything I'd ever done before.
