Tech Wales meets the challenge of a new way of working
As a Business IT Support & Telecoms Company, Tech Wales has found itself at the forefront of getting their customers remote working during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Both Directors, Adrian Williams and Michael Price, who are alumni of our Leading Growth leadership programme, enacted their business continuity plans before the full lockdown was announced so all of their employees were already home working ready to help customers. As Director Adrian Williams explains, "All of Tech Wales systems are cloud-based so our employees have full access to telephones, customer support systems, accounting, file-sharing and email as usual". As soon as the full lockdown was announced then the company saw the average number of daily calls double overnight.
The company has completed site visits to restore communications to a local pharmacy - vital to the public during this period - and to a number of accountancy and personnel firms who are providing support for other businesses.
"Co-ordinating our staff and looking after their mental and physical well-being has been a mammoth task but through regular Microsoft Teams meetings and even a couple of team quizzes we've all stood up and met the challenge, even winning new business during the last few weeks" explains Michael Price. "The tools and advice that we were taught during our ION Leadership courses helped us to react quickly and keep staff engaged even though we are now geographically dispersed". Tech Wales stands ready to assist any other businesses which are struggling to maintain working practices during this period.
Well done everyone at Tech Wales. We love hearing from our alumni how they are adapting to a new way of working. There are some fantastic stories. If you want us to share your story, send further information to ionleadership@swansea.ac.uk and we will be in touch.
