2017 gets off to a Great (Orme) start!
by Felicity Roberts – Business Development Manager ION leadership, Bangor
Did I hear you say a Masterclass in a brewery??
You certainly did!
Many thanks to the Great Orme Brewery for hosting our Alumni programme’s additional Masterclass on their quirky premises and to the owner, Jonathan Hughes, for providing delegates with an honest and inspiring talk of his own personal experiences setting up the Great Orme Brewery and operational challenges he faced along the way.
Before a wonderfully hearty beef and ale stew were consumed at lunch, delegates received a guided tour around the brewery itself learning about the brewing process, introduction to various malts (including chocolate!) and a lesson in labelling!

The group also welcomed Stephen Davies, Managing Director of Penderyn Distillery, who explained the Penderyn approach to branding, growth strategy, export and production operations.
Speaking of the event, Stephen was impressed by the ION programme’s delegates “who are ambitious for the growth of their own enterprises but also display care for the wider business environment and as a group of business leaders are keen to share and eager to learn. This is a great environment in which to grow as a business professional and a group leader with well-chosen case studies and practical and pragmatic advice on offer. It’s great to be part of this kind of network”.

The ION Leadership team would also like to extend a special welcome to our new ION leading growth cohort that recently started! With a range of businesses and experience in the room all looking to grow their businesses through improved leadership, we’re looking forward to helping delegates on their leadership journey and with the Overnight Experiential set for the end of this month at the Bulkeley Hotel in Beaumaris, watch this space!
