Friday Footnote #97

Ysgrifennwyd gan A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / 24/6/2022

Each week we share loads of content amongst Team ION and with our network. Content that inspires us, which we find helpful, or just makes us smile. We thought we would start sharing these insights every Friday. Welcome to Friday Footnote.

It's nice to be out

Face-to-face events are well and truly back. This week we attended not 1, not 2, but 3 face-to-face events. And it was brilliant.

On Monday, Adam was in Llanelli for the Regional Learning & Skills Partnership event discussing the 'Changing Skills Landscape'. There were various presentations and interactive sessions throughout the day, covering topics including the Shared Prosperity Fundapprenticeships, talent retention, and the employment & skills plan for the region. An interesting day - we look forward to continuing to be part of the conversation.

UWTSD.JPGOn Wednesday, Suzanne and Adam attended University Trinity St Davids in Swansea as part of the MADE Cymru Industry Summit 2022. After an exhibition and buffet lunch (Adam's 2nd of the week!), there was a tour of the amazing facilities, including the motorsport academy (including F1 simulator) and a session on the innovation matrix building planned for SA1, a state-of-the-art creative hub for entrepreneurshipinnovation and collaboration. A hugely inspirational afternoon  - and we all now want to be F1 car designers!

On Thursday Adam was up bright and early for breakfast at the Swansea.com Stadium with the Swansea City Business Network. The breakfast coincided with the announcement of the fixtures for the 2022/23 season. The Swans start away at Rotherham Utd at the end of July (season starts early because of the World Cup) and finish at home to West Brom in early May 2023. Roll on next season!

What's caught our eye this week?

Become an extraordinary leader with ION

For over 11 years we have supported leaders at all levels to become extraordinary leaders. Whether you are just starting your leadership journey, or want to freshen up your skills and learn how best to implement the latest thinking, strategies and best practice into your business, we have a programme which meets your needs.

We currently run 2 tailored leadership programmes; ILM Level 3 New Leaders programme, and an ILM Level 5 Leading Growth programme. However, we are coming towards the end of our current funding cycle, so there are limited programmes scheduled to take place. We know that everyone says 'time is running out'. But in this instance, it really is.

You can find out more about upcoming programmes on our Course page. However, if our programmes don't 100% meet your requirements, get in touch with Adam on ionleadership@swansea.ac.uk to arrange a chat to find out how we can work with you to develop extraordinary leaders in your organisation.
