Friday Footnote # 67

Ysgrifennwyd gan A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / 1/10/2021 / ION leadership news, / Blog posts

Each week we share loads of content amongst Team ION and with our network. Content that inspires us, which we find helpful, or just makes us smile. We thought we would start sharing these insights every Friday. Welcome to Friday Footnote.

ION Open Doors - Hybrid WorkingRachel_Wilson_event.png

Our next #IONOpenDoors learning session takes place next Thursday (7th November) and we will be joined by Rachel Wilson from Chwarae Teg, who will be sharing how Chwarae Teg has supported Welsh businesses with hybrid working.

Hybrid working has become an even more important issue in the workplace over the last 18 months, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and as things start to get back to 'normal', we very much look forward to hearing from Rachel who will share real-life case studies of how they have supported Welsh businesses with managing hybrid working.

You can sign up for the session here.

Women In Business Awards

Yesterday members of Team ION attended the Wales Women in Business Awards at the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea to cheer on our very own Kaye Harris-John who was nominated in the Employment Engagement Champion category. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be on the day, but Kaye will always be a winner to us!

WIB3.JPGIt was great to see so many friends of the programme also nominated, and at the awards ceremony. Well done to everyone who was nominated, and to the winners. A special congratulations to current ION delegate Danni Watts-Jones who picked up 2 awards, including Best Boss.

The Forces Shaping the Future of Work

This week Adam attended a Chambers Wales webinar with BT, discussing 'The Forces Shaping the Future of Work'. During a hugely interesting session, BT's principal innovation partner Dr Nicola Millard discussed the importance of place and time flexibility, the 'death of dolly' (working 9-5), and how the office definitely isn't dead - although there will be greater emphasis placed on it being a place for communication and collaboration.

Dr Nicola Millard ended her presentation with a thought-provoking quote from Kevin Kelly from Wired Magazine:

"The problem of the future will not be that we cannot connect - it will be that we cannot disconnect".

This week we added a new videos section to our website. The section features interviews with some of our alumni as well as a number of corporate videos. Keep an eye out on the page over the coming weeks and months as we add more films to the channel.

Become an extraordinary leader

Our leadership programmes that start before the end of March 2022 will be fully funded, and we have just announced details of our next ILM Level 5 Leading Growth programme, starting in February 2022. You can find out more about our latest programmes on our courses page.
