Friday Footnote #53

Ysgrifennwyd gan A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / 11/6/2021 / ION leadership news, / Blog posts

Each week we share loads of content amongst Team ION and with our network. Content that inspires us, which we find helpful or just makes us smile. We thought we would start sharing these insights every Friday. Welcome to Friday Footnote.

Building Proactive Resilience

Mental_Toughness_event.JPGA few weeks ago we ran a 2-part virtual learning session discussing a hugely important subject - mental toughness.

Led by ION leadership Development Specialist, and AQR International accredited practitioner Andrew Veevers, the sessions were for anyone who wanted to find out more about mental toughness, and how to build it into their personal development plans.

Following the hugely successful sessions, Andrew blogged for us this week discussing the sessions themselves and how they aimed to build delegates' proactive resilience. Check out the blog.

Our amazing alumni

We love our alumni, and we love hearing about their successes.

Jo_5.JPGIn the last few weeks, we have heard how A&R Cleaning, founded by Rayner and Ashley Davies (both alumni), are guiding businesses to a new way of working and how Empower Wellbeing, set up by Joanne Juliff (pictured right) following her attendance on our Leading Growth programme, continues to go from strength to strength as they have recently started Empower Active Walking Groups in Merthyr and Llanelli.

We also heard this week how Blue Tree Home & Garden, whose founder Sean Lade is a current delegate on our Leading Growth programme, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Leading FairPlay Employer’ status by our friends at Chwarae Teg. According to Chwarae Teg 'The speciality retailer has taken impactful steps and worked with an unwavering commitment to increasing diversity in its workforce – attracting more women employees and to become an employer of choice. It has adopted innovative practices which provide equality of opportunity for staff – ensuring they are supported personally and professionally and removed potential barriers for job candidates'. Well done Sean and team.

We genuinely love hearing about the successes of our alumni, so if you want to share your success stories with us, and have us include them in #FridayFootnote, please get in touch at ionleadership@swansea.ac.uk
