Why should companies join the fully-funded leadership programme on the Port Talbot Enterprise Zone?

Written by A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / Tuesday 22nd May 2018

We recently announced that following on from last year’s inaugural fully-funded leadership programme on the Port Talbot Enterprise Zone, we have once again partnered with Welsh Government and the Port Talbot Enterprise Zone to run a similar programme starting in June 2018.

So why should organisations join the programme? Our Marketing Manager Adam Fairbank explains why.

We have designed, developed and will deliver a Leading Growth programme for local business leaders, with additional modules to meet the needs of the businesses involved. As well as modules on effective leadership and culture and values, delegates will also complete masterclasses on marketing and branding and leading change. You can find out about the masterclasses and timetable here.

As with all of our programmes, we complete pre and post programme surveys with all delegates, and the findings from the quantitative and qualitative surveys from last year’s programme were hugely positive. The post programme surveys are completed straight after the course so we would expect the impact to be even greater over time but we feel the best way for us to communicate the impact of the programme, is for our delegate’s feedback to do the talking.

And the stats speak for themselves:

  • 70% of businesses involved have seen an increase in turnover

  • 50% of organisations involved employ more people

  • 100% of delegates agreed that the programme has helped them develop knowledge and improve their leadership skills

  • 87.5% of delegates fully achieved their aims

  • 83% of delegates feel more confident in their roles

And the anecdotal feedback is just as positive:

“Business has moved forward, we were okay but this year since starting the course, we are going to more than double our turnover, so it’s been huge!”

“My company has been going 5 years, last year we actually saw a dip in turnover, we’d been turning over quite nicely, so we came on the course to reinvigorate our enthusiasm and this course has done that. Doing the figures yesterday, we’re already up 20% on 2015, we’ve employed 1 and are looking to employ another. This course has had a massive benefit!”

“This course has helped me listen to my staff more, to streamline the business, attract better customers, and help/educate them to plan their work as well as mine”.

So why wouldn’t you join the programme?
