#WednesdayWalk

Written by A.R.Fairbank@swansea.ac.uk / Wednesday 9th September 2020 / ION leadership news, / Blog posts

We're massive advocates of the great outdoors and the important role it plays in helping us manage our wellbeing as well as giving us an opportunity to reflect.

This summer members of the team have been sharing their favourite walks on our social media channels. Here they are, all in one place.

Mannon - Team Bangor

Great_Outdoors_1.JPGBangor team member Mannon Briggs told us "since lockdown, I have really taken to becoming healthier and have managed to lose a stone in weight. I have walked many miles taking on virtual challenges with my slimming world group. We completed Lands End to John O’Groats and are currently taking on Route 66 in the USA. Recently, myself, my sister and Aunty have been taking on the Snowdonia Eryri Slate Trail and these have been my favourites so far. There's nothing better than standing high up on the mountain tops in the middle of nowhere looking at the wonderful scenery, with the feeling of freedom and peace is just out of this world".

Kaye - Team Swansea

Recruitment officer Kaye regularly walks with her family along the Wales Coast Path to Three Cliffs Beach on the Gower Peninsula.

Kim - Team Swansea

Leadership Development Specialist Kim loves walking from Ferryside alongside the estuary, past the salt marshes, taking in the beautiful views across to Llansteffan.

Pauline - Team Bangor

Bangor based Leadership Development Specialist Pauline told us "My regular walk with my whippet Dylan is the Panorama with lovely views of Dinas Bran, Llangollen, and rolling hills in the distance. Many people walk up to the castle for the views but I prefer to walk on the cliffs with Dinas Bran in the picture, it's stunning. The most magical time I have here is when I venture out on a misty, fresh morning and get above the clouds with Dinas Bran peeping through the blanket of white. When the sun hits the mist the whole area glistens. One can only imagine what it was like living at the castle on top of the hill all those years ago. By the way, don't tell Dylan there are sheep behind him!".

Gwenllian_1.JPGClare - Team Swansea

Finance Manager Clare (our resident Mary Berry!) lives in Swansea and loves walking through Clyne Gardens, onto the seafront and around to Mumbles.

Gwenllian - Team Bangor

Bangor based Programme Manager Gwenllian (right) shared her North Wales adventures in a blog for us back in July.

Adam - Team Swansea

Our Marketing Manager Adam's favourite walk is along the Afon Twrch near his home in the Upper Swansea Valley.

Linda - Team Swansea

Linda loves exploring Penllergaer Woods where she can really 'unlock the chain from the PC and walk into a quiet space to find the cuckoos calling, the trees rustling and the tadpoles and lizards swimming in the little stream'.
